Container Corporation of India (Concor) recorded a net profit of Rs 2006.19 crore for the quarter ended December 2010, registering a 13.89 per cent growth year-on-year.
The operating revenue during third quarter was at Rs 9,711.33 crore, up 9.8 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal. On the improvement in the bottom line, Mr Anil Gupta, Managing Director, said, “This was achieved primarily by stringent cost controls. The amount lost due to running of empty customers has been reduced to half during the period. Also, we have moved towards using our own equipment at terminals, which has resulted in lower cost and better services.”
Other income was Rs 478.65 crore, up 25.47 per cent year-on-year. Concor also announced an interim dividend of 75 per cent (Rs 7.5/share of face value Rs 10) amounting to Rs 974.87 crore, the highest interim dividend announced so far.
