The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on Sunday said that an attempt will be made on Monday to refloat the 999-tonne oil tanker m.t. Pavit, which has run aground at the Juhu beach.
An operation to turn the vessel towards the sea and tow it into deep waters will be started during high tide tomorrow, a DGS statement issued here said.
A specialised salvage company hired for the operation carried out the removal of sand around the grounded vessel and also made an attempt to turn the vessel towards the sea today, the release said.
The tugs were able to turn the vessel, which is stuck parallel to the shoreline, by 35 degrees towards the sea, it said.
