The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been asked by the Urban Development Ministry to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Metro project in Nagpur.
“Though a period of nearly six months has been assigned for the preparation of the DPR, it may take the DMRC nearly four months to complete the report,” a senior government official said.
Officials said that the Nagpur metro will have two lines with a length of nearly 37 km. “We are looking at a Metro project with two lines with a total length of about 37 km,” a senior official said.
The cost of the project is estimated to be over Rs 8,000 crore, they said. Apart from Nagpur, several other important cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Patna, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Surat, Indore, Kochi, Coimbatore, Kozhikode are also being considered for the creation of Metro networks, officials said.
