The seven domestic airlines flew 45.75 lakh passengers in February this year, registering an increase of 18.43 per cent over 38.63 lakh passengers flown during the same period in the previous year.
During the month under review, Kingfisher Airlines was the market leader with a share of 19 per cent followed by the Delhi-based low-cost airline, IndiGo, which reported a market share of 18.7 per cent, the latest data released by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) show. Jet Airways was at third spot with a market share of 18 per cent followed by Air India which reported a market share of 15.8 per cent.
While the number of passengers flown in February this year is more than the previous year, it is less than the 49.36 lakh passengers flown in January this year. The marginal decrease in number of passengers flown in February this year as compared with the previous month was primarily due to end of peak season, the DGCA statement added.
