Flying out of Lucknow is set to become more expensive starting October 1.

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) said in its latest order that outgoing passengers from Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh InternationalAairport will have to pay a User Development Fee (UDF) of Rs 370 for domestic and Rs 1,060 for international flights.

The UDF will be charged in addition to the base price of their tickets.

Starting April 1, the levy would rise by 5.9 per cent to Rs 392 for domestic flyers and Rs 1,124 for international passengers, AERA said.

UDF is a charge levied by airports on passengers to help the operator recover part of the investments made for the development of the airport and other facilities.

The order further said that facilitation related Passenger Service Fee (PSF) of Rs 77 per passenger (which is paid to the government) would be merged with the UDF and not charged separately as is being done now.

“The Authority also notes that PSF (Security) at Rs 130 per embarking passenger will continue to be charged during the current control period,” the order said.

Interestingly, helicopters and aircraft with less than 80 seats (operated by Indian scheduled operators) would be exempt from paying landing charges at Lucknow airport.

The regulator further added that it would determine the tariff for the period beyond 2015-16 on the basis of the submissions made by AAI. The increase would depend upon the calculated shortfall in revenue at that time, it said.
