Train services to Bihar and North Bengal were disrupted on Friday afternoon following derailment of a goods train at the Sahebganj loop.
According to an Eastern Railway spokesperson, some empty wagons of the train derailed around 4.20 pm between Banslai Bridge and Rajgram stations in Birbhum district.
The incident led to cancellation of Sealdah-Varanasi Express and diversion of a number of mail and express trains.
The diverted trains include Saraiaghat Express, Kolkata-Balurghat Tehbhaga Express, Yeshvanthpur-Muzaffarpur Express, Uttarbanga Express, Kanchankanya Express, Kolkata-Jogbani Express, Bhagalpur-Ranchi Vananchal Express and Howrah-Gaya Express.
Besides, Howrah-Maldah Town Intercity Express had been short terminated at the Rampurhat station.
