Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust expects the construction of the 330-metre container berth will be completed within a year.
At a function held to hand over the Letter of Award of the project to DP World, Dubai, on Tuesday, Luxman Radhakrishnan, Chairman, JNPT, said the maximum construction period for the project according to the tender conditions is 24 months from the date of award of concession. However, he said he expects the project to be completed with in one year.
The letter of award was accepted by Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World.
DP World, which won the project by offering 28.09 per cent of the revenue with the Government, will have to sign the concession agreement with in 30 days.
The Dubai Government-owned port company was the single bidder for the container berth which will have the capacity to handle 80-lakh containers a year.
