There is a proposal to develop an exclusive jetty for coastal vessels at Kodungallur, 40 km north of Kochi. The jetty already has four to five metre water depth and is ideal for handling containers originating from Gujarat and Maharashtra and destined for other locations in Kerala, according to the directorate of Ports in Kerala. This is one of the minor ports identified for private investment and the cost of development is estimated at Rs 30 crore.
