A new broad gauge line between Jaggayyapeta and Mellacheruvu in Andhra Pradesh was inaugurated by the the Chief Minister Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy today.
He flagged of a goods train on the new line.
He urged the railway authorities to speed up other works in the zone, as demand for railway transportation was rising. Mr G.N. Asthana, General manager of SC Railway, said the ompletion of the new line on the entire stretch between Vishnupuram-Jaggayyapeta Town in the near future would create an alternate route between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.
The new line between involved an expenditure of Rs.139 crore.
