Danish shipping giant, Maersk Line, has announced it will impose general rate increases for Asia to US west and east coast-bound cargo from May 1, according to shipping industry sources, quoting a company statement.

For Asia-US west coast services, the rates will increase by $400 for a twenty-ft equivalent unit (TEU), $500 for a forty-ft equivalent unit (FEU), $565 for a 40-ft-high cube and $630 for a 45-ft-high cube container, say the sources.
us east coast
For Asia-US east coast loops, the increases will be $560 a TEU, $700 a FEU, $790 a high cube and $885 a high cube box, add the sources.
Meanwhile,
mainline vessel
This is the first and also the largest Maersk mainline vessel on its European service to berth at the terminal.
Mundra terminal
The vessel will be on the shipping line's ME1 service connecting Mundra to such ports as Felixstowe, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Aqaba, Jeddah, Jebel Ali and Mumbai.
Right now, the Mundra terminal handles every month about 70 container vessels including 14 mainline vessels, thanks to the modern facilities available at the terminal, the statement adds.
