Former railway minister Mukul Roy criticised the UPA-led Union Government’s decision to hike Railway fares and dubbed it as an “anti-people” move.
The Ministry of Railways on Wednesday announced hike in Railway fares in all sections with effect from January 21.
Roy, who is the general secretary of All India Trinamool Congress, said his party would protest against the increase in fares and hit the streets across West Bengal.
According to him, when he took charge as the Railway minister, he rolled backed the hike in passenger fares for second class, suburban and non-suburban, sleeper, AC chair car and AC three-tier sections.
