New Bangalore airport terminal to handle 12 m people a year

The upgraded Bangalore International Airport with its new Terminal 1 will now handle around 720 aircraft a day and cater to 12 million people a year . It has more check-in counters, seating areas, a large security hold area and better amenities for flyers. Its floor space has been doubled to 1.5 lakh square metres and is equipped with 90 check-in counters against the existing 53 .

“In its decade of operations, we have achieved high operational efficiencies,” Bhaskar Bodapati, Senior Director – Finance and Support Services, BIAL.

The expanded terminal will start full-fledged operations from today. The airport is spread over 4,000 acres, including 462 acres of planned commercial development.
