The Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Parasuram Express (16649/16650) has been extended to Nagercoil.
The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, flagged off the train on its maiden trip to Nagercoil at a function here. Train No 16650 will leave Nagercoil at 4 am and reach Mangalore at 8.20 pm. The pairing train (16649) will leave Mangalore at 4.45 am and reach Nagercoil at 8.40 pm.
Among those present at the flagging-off ceremony included the State Ministers Mr Aryadan Muhammed and Mr V.S. Sivakumar; Members of Parliament Mr Sasi Tharoor, Ms T. N. Seema, and Mr M. Achuthan.
The divisional railway manager, Mr Rajesh Aggarwal, and the additional general manager, Mr Narayan, represented Southern Railway.
