Kolkata-based Seacom Group on Tuesday introduced an Electro-Technical Officer’s course for seafarers at its marine engineering college.
Approved by the Ministry of Shipping, the course would provide a hands-on training with eight months sailing period with a total fee of Rs 4.5 lakh. General engineering graduates are also eligible for the course.
Announcing the course, Captain S.C. Mondal, Joint Director General of Shipping, said it would groom seafarers to operate modern technologies at a time when there is a huge dearth of skilled technical officers in the ships.
