TÜV Rheinland, a testing, training, inspection, consulting and certification agency, has announced services in the metro rail segment in India.

TÜV Rheinland sees a major opportunity in the metro rail segment.

The company’s first project in India was its association with Konkan Railways’ Sky Bus project.

TUV Rheinland India, the Indian subsidiary headquartered in Bangalore, offers independent safety assessment inspection, auditing, certification, training, consultancy, RAMS and testing services for electrical products, signalling and telecom for the metro rail segment.

Enrico Ruhle, Managing Director, TUV Rheinland India, said, “The traffic condition in metro cities in India has not been so comfortable in terms of frequent traffic jams, narrow roads, heavy number of autorickshaws and two-wheelers and high parking demand. The country aspires to create world-class infrastructure. Mass Rapid Transit Systems are being developed across Indian metros to render a fast, easy and comfortable commute through high-speed trains. Around 23 metro rail projects have been planned of which the Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore metros have started operation but are yet to completed in full. The Jaipur, Chennai, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kochi and Hyderabad metros are under construction and the rest are in the planning phase. Hence the potential in this sector is huge and we intend to capitalise on this.”
