Abhibus.com, an online bus ticket booking portal, has bagged AWATAR 2.1 (Any Time Any Where Advance Reservation) project by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

The upgraded AWATAR application will bring about 3,500 bus services under the online reservation system by pooling up all the seat inventory at one place. One of the biggest public transport systems in the country, AWATAR has over 34 lakh registered users and about 550 franchisees.

The web-based passenger seat reservation system is aimed at handling at least 8,000 concurrent requests after the completion of the project. “It allows customers to buy tickets using a variety of avenues, including web portal, mobile apps, bus-station counters and agents,” Sudhakar Reddy, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Abhibus.com, says.

The firm similar services Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and 250 private operators.

KSRTC, which started e-booking in 2007, earns about 60 per cent of its revenues from advanced booking.
