Air India Express will launch a new flight from the Abu Dhabi International Airport (ADIA) to Chennai, via Tiruchi, starting from October 27.
ADIA and Air India Express have said that the airline will operate an additional flight every Monday, originating from Chennai and flying via Tiruchi to Abu Dhabi, thereby bring the total number of flights it operates on this route to three per week.
As per its winter schedule, Air India Express will operate 32 weekly flights from the Abu Dhabi International Airport to seven destinations in India, the statement said.
Due to the increased demand for flights to and from the Indian sub-continent, Air India Express is constantly augmenting the frequency of its flights and expanding its service offerings to passengers from the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Earlier in 2011, Air India Express increased the flight frequencies on two of its routes from Abu Dhabi — Managalore and Amritsar — to service high demand.
Mr Harjeet Sawhney, Manager of Air India Express in Abu Dhabi, said the new flight reflects the airline’s commitment to provide convenient services to passengers.
“The level of services offered to us by ADAC helps us to continuously enhance our portfolio of services in the increasingly rising demand in the Abu Dhabi market,” he said.
Eng. Ahmed Al Haddabi, Chief Operating Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), said: “We are glad to see that our airline partners are keen to develop their services from the capital’s airport, as it will offer more choices to our passengers and ultimately support ADAC’s strategy to become one of the leading airports in the world.”
