A committee of secretaries, set up to look into the problems being faced by Air India, is expected to submit its report soon suggesting solutions.
“We have constituted a Committee of Secretaries. They, I think, met yesterday or day before. I have to see their report. Then the (Group of) Ministers will meet,” the Civil Aviation Minister, Mr Ajit Singh, told PTI here on Friday.
Bailout package
He was responding to a question whether the Government was planning any bailout package for the beleaguered national carrier.
The new Civil Aviation Minister said the Committee of Secretaries was also looking into the problems being faced by the airline industry and would suggest measures.
ATF and other issues
“They are looking into ATF and many other issues,” he said.
Mr Singh said, as he was new to the Ministry, he was still trying to understand the issues concerning aviation sector and its problems.
“Let me understand the issues, what is happening, what is not,” he said.
The Indian air carriers have been asking the Government help to deal with the problems being faced by them, including high taxes on jet fuel.
