Air India Express, the low-cost arm of Air India, will charge for advance selection of seats by passengers.
The airline has informed travel agents that on domestic flights it will charge Rs 400 for those doing advance selection of Rows 1 and 2 and Rs 300 for those seeking advance selection in Rows 3 to rows 6.
On international flights, the charges will be higher with the airline charging Rs 750 for Rows 1 and 2 and Rs 500 for Rows 3 to 6. In addition, in other rows the airline will charge Rs 300 for advance selection of window or aisle seat while those pre-booking the middle seat in other rows will be charged Rs 200.
The charges are applicable with immediate effect and are non-refundable, the airline has said.
