The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Tuesday announced that it has tied up with SITA, a communication and information technology solution provider major for transport industry, for improved passenger processing system at 25 airports.

According to an AAI release, these airports will include the modernised terminals of Chennai International Airport and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata.

SITA will provide a technology – AirportConnect Open – to maximise the use of check-in counters and gates as part of the seven-year agreement with AAI, the release added.

The system has already been installed at 13 airports. “SITA is already working with the AAI on this implementation and passengers will begin to experience the benefits of this new technology at the integrated passenger terminals in 2013,” Maneesh Jaikrishna, SITA Vice President, India and Subcontinent, was quoted saying.
