Belgium has tied up with the Indian Railways to renovate 14 Indian railway stations, according to its Ambassador, Mr Pierre Vaesen.
In an interactive session with the members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), AP Chapter, especially belonging to the energy and environment sectors, Mr Vaesen said the project would be executed in the public-private-partnership mode.
The plan is to renovate railway stations, including all the ones in metropolitan cities in India. The Ambassador said that Belgium was the second largest trade partner to India from the Europe, next only to the UK.
The Gems & Jewellery segment is very strong in Belgium and has good business relations with India, especially Gujarat. Mr Vaesen emphasised that Belgium is looking for tie-ups in the areas of renewable energy, research and development, biotechnology and education sector.
Earlier, in her welcome remarks, Ms Suchitra Ella, Chairperson, CII Andhra Pradesh and Joint Managing Director, Bharat Biotech International Ltd, emphasised the strong and salient features of Indo-Belgium trade relations and the role played by CII to strengthen the relationship.
The Ambassador also visited the CII-Green Business Centre and planted a sampling.
