British Airways has announced a slew of measures to boost traffic and increase revenues from Hyderabad and Chennai.
This will include expanding its route network from Hyderabad and Chennai from summer 2013 to six flights per-week from five flights per-week as per the current schedule.
Another move is an incentive. There will an attractive discount offer, exclusively for its Hyderabad and Chennai customers flying to London. Customers will be able to enjoy a 25 per cent discount on all Club World tickets booked before Friday, (November 23) to London. The travel will be valid until December 15.
Announcing these decisions at a news conference, Christopher Fordyce, Regional Commercial Manager, British Airways, South Asia, said these were in response to customer needs and potential growth for the airline from these cities.
Answering questions directed to the troubles faced by some airlines in India, he said the high cost of fuel and user charges levied in some airports in India make it a difficult place to run an airline successfully. The cost of aviation turbine fuel is considerably high.
Referring to expansion plans, Fordyce said, “At present the airlines has no plans to add new destinations.”
India continues to be one of the fastest growing markets for British Airways.
