The Government has constituted an independent committee to examine if a fair, equitable and transparent tender process was followed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), as per prescribed guidelines while awarding a few recent contracts.
According to an official statement, Deepa Dasmunshi, Minister of State, Urban Development, said this in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
The committee has been constituted after the government received some representations from the bidders concerning the tender process. The statement did not provide any specific details.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd recently completed the tendering process of the Rolling Stock contract for Phase-III of Delhi Metro, added the release.
On July 1, DMRC awarded a Rs 747.7 crore tender to BEML-Hyundai Rotem company for supplying 92 standard gauge coaches. The supply is supposed to be completed by June 2017.
