Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Deepa Dasmunsi, on Tuesday criticised the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government’s stand on the recent Haldia port impasse.
While addressing a party rally at Haldia, Dasmunsi said “corruption” was hindering operations at the Haldia port.
“As soon as I received reports on retrenchment of labourers and ABG-LDA run contractor’s exit from the port, I went to meet the Shipping Minister, G.K. Vasan, seeking intervention into the matter,” Dasmunsi said.
She accused the West Bengal Government for ignoring the crisis at the Haldia dock complex and reiterating that everything was normal there. “What is the future of the workers retrenched from the Haldia dock complex?” she asked.
Dasmunsi pointed out that the West Bengal unit of Congress would urge for a “CBI inquiry into the Haldia impasse”.
