L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd has completed the Ameerpet interchange station, considered to be one of the largest metro stations in the country.

This is one of the key units in the 30-km metro stretch to be formally commissioned later this month. Spread over two lakh square feet, the station has many special features.

The station is 142 m long and 40 m wide. It will have retail outlets, entertainment zones and convenience outlets.

Entry into the Concourse, which will be used by pedestrians to cross over from one lane to another, allowing uninterrupted traffic movement, will not require a ticket. Convenience stores, ATM machines, offices for the technical staff and other amenities are provided on this level.

The platform level of corridor 1 will be at a height of 30 m and the roof level at 36 m. About 40,000 passengers are expected to use the station every day. The open spaces, lifts, escalators and staircases will be able to accommodate a minimum of 6,000 passengers at any point of time.

Landmark

Hyderabad will get a new iconic landmark at Miyapur terminal point, where a plaza is being developed to mark the inauguration of the first phase of the metro rail. It is set to emerge as the newest selfie point.

It is being designed as a retreat, a place to unwind and relax. About 10 acres of quality public space is being created by HMRL on both sides of Miyapur terminal station with wide footpaths and pedestrian focussed amenities.

At any given time 1 lakh persons would be able to congregate here. The art spot will be open for anybody to unplug his or her creativity. One can paint, draw, leave social messages or simply take to graffiti. Erase the art work and the space on the round or triangular structures at the art spot is again available for artists to showcase their creativity.
