Over 23.62 lakh people travelled in the Delhi Metro on July 1, which is the highest ever ridership recorded in the system so far. On July 1, the Metro surpassed the earlier record set on June 18, 2013, when 23.32 lakh people travelled on it.
Meanwhile, the airport line ridership stood at 10,300 on July 1, 2013, the first day of its operations under DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) supervision, the company said in a release, reiterating that it was only ‘supervising’ the airport Metro operations.
The airport line Metro runs between the airport and Central Delhi, from which the concessionaire, Reliance Infrastructure, has exited after issuing a termination notice to DMRC, even though the latter was not willing to terminate the concession agreement.
