The freight earnings of the Eastern Railway increased by over 20 per cent to Rs 2,860 crore during the seven month period from April to October this year.
The earnings for the corresponding period last year stood at over Rs 2,377 crore.
Earnings from coal freight alone stood at nearly Rs 1946 crores for the period in review; an increase of approximately 26 per cent over the ` 1540 crore reported in the year-ago period.
Freight earning for Ocotber 2014 stood at ` 414 crore.
