India’s first greenfield private airport at Andal, which is on the outskirts of the industrial city of Durgapur, nearly 180 kms from Kolkata, started operating commercial flights from May 18.

To commemorate the occasion, the promoters Bengal Aerotropolis Projects Ltd, with Changi Airports International as one of the partners, invited a host of State ministers, MPs, Bengali film stars and a few media persons to be on board the 40 minute flight from Kolkata to Andal.
