Flydubai, a low-cost carrier owned by the Government of Dubai, has commenced its service between Dubai and Chennai from last night. This is the eighth destination in India for the airline.
The airline will operate three flights a week to Chennai, taking the total to 29 weekly flights between Dubai and India, Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice-President, Commercial (GCC, Sub-continent, Africa), Flydubai, told newspersons.
FZ447 flight will depart Dubai International Terminal 2 at 10.05 p.m. (local time), landing in Chennai at 4 a.m. (local time). In the return direction, flight FZ448 will leave Chennai at 4.45 p.m. (local time) and arrive in Dubai at 7.35 a.m. (local time).
Economy class return fare from Chennai starts at ₹14,000, including 20 kg checked baggage. The business class return fare will start at ₹29,000, and the fare is inclusive of all taxes and 40 kg checked baggage, he said.
The airline added four routes in 2014 offering passengers from Dubai affordable travel options to Delhi, Kochi, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram. In addition, it operates flights to Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
