Long-distance train services along the Delhi-Howrah route was affected on Friday following the derailment of a goods train on the Gaya-Mughalsarai section of Eastern Railway.
The derailment led to the cancellation of three long distance trains – Howrah-Delhi Janta Express, Kolkata-Delhi Lal Quila Express and Asansol-Varanasi Passenger train.
Nearly 13 down trains were diverted. The diverted trains, which are running behind schedule, will now ply via Patna-Jhajha route.
Some of the major trains include New Delhi-Sealdah Duronto, Chambal Express, New Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani Express, New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani Express, Kalka Mail and Jammu Tawi Express.
The up trains which were diverted include Howrah Duronto Express, Jammu Tawi and Sealdah Amritsar Express. These trains will now ply via Pradhankhunta-Chopan-Chunar route.
According to a release issued by the Eastern Railway, 20 wagons of a goods train derailed between Bhabua Road and Durgabatti stations on the Gaya Mughalsarai section.
