Airline IT solutions specialist, IBS Software, has inked a multi-year contract with Lebanon’s flag carrier Middle East Airlines to implement its iCargo solution. iCargo is a fully integrated, web-based cargo management IT platform that supports the end-to-end requirements of airlines’ core freight business.
Business process design
It provides carriers and other service providers with enhanced capabilities to optimise operations, enhance profitability and increase the velocity of business "from sale to bill''.
iCargo will leverage its capability to provide a single unified platform to manage the cargo business needs of Middle East Airlines world-wide, a spokesman said.
These range from from worldwide sales, commercial and capacity management to handle the operations at its Beirut hub and fully integrated billing, invoicing, accounting and interline processing.
This is expected to transform its cargo business through definition of new sales and capacity management processes, smarter workflow-based decision making, accelerated and fully digitised flow of information between sales, operations and revenue accounting and, most importantly, allow a redesign of business process by aligning with industry best practices.
Growing customer list
According to the spokesman, the iCargo platform has been a success after its market introduction in 2008 with a diverse set of 20+ customers, including full service cargo carriers, low-cost and regional carriers as well as cargo ground handling service providers, making it the preferred cargo management solution.
“IBS and iCargo was a natural choice due to superior product capabilities, proven technology platform and a very good track record of successful implementations,” said Adib Charif, Head of IT, Middle East Airlines.
Ashok Rajan, Head, Airline Cargo Services, IBS Software, said that the dominance of iCargo in the air cargo management space is clearly the result of the consistent quality of engagements that have materialised over the last few years.
