Private carrier Jet Airways today said it has expanded its code-share arrangement with Japan’s All Nippon Airways.
Code-sharing allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carriers and provide seamless transport to multiple destinations where it has no presence.
The code-share with Nippon offers travellers enhanced network connectivity between Japan and India, a Jet Airways release said, adding that the arrangement will enable both Jet Airways and All Nippon passengers to fly between Tokyo and Osaka to various points across India on connecting flights operated by both carriers.
In addition to the existing code-share on Japanese carrier’s Mumbai-Tokyo direct flights, Jet Airways will place its marketing code on other All Nippon flights between Hong Kong-Tokyo/Osaka and Bangkok-Tokyo, it said.
Commenting on the agreement, Jet Airways Chief Executive Nikos Kardassis said, “Our code-share agreement with All Nippon Airways is another distinctive travel solution. Thanks to the expanded code-share agreement, we will be able to offer our guests wider access, unmatched connectivity and seamless travel to Japan’s key markets“.
Meanwhile, the passenger traffic between the two countries grew 39 per cent to 4.65 lakh in 2011 from 3.35 lakh in 2009, according to the release.
