Jetty expansion of common user coal terminal developed by Chettinad International Coal Terminal Pvt Ltd at Kamarajar Port in Ennore has been completed to accommodate capesize vessels.
On October 18, vessel Minoan Falcon was berthed at CICTPL with a higher parcel size of 88,001 tonnes of steam coal imported from Indonesia for importer OPG Power Generation. The vessel’s dead weight tonnage was 92,700 tonnes and it was the highest DWT vessel ever handled at this terminal, the release said.
Coal discharged from the jetty to stackyard is being moved through a closed conveyor system of about 2.5 km. The automated truck and wagon loading stations are established inside the stackyard to reduce the overall turn around time of the trucks and wagons, the release said.
