The first phase of the proposed international airport at Kannur would be completed by 2014, the Kerala Excise Minister and the in-charge of the project, Mr K. Babu, said today.
The first flight would land at Kannur airport in 2015, he said after the decision taken at a meeting with Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (KINFRA) which decided to provide 645 acres to the project. Tenders would be floated in April for the construction of the runway.
The project, which was a flagship programme of the Government, would be completed within the time schedule, the Minister told reporters here.
He said 26 per cent of shares would be vested with the Government and an equal share would be given as land to the Kannur airport project. The airport would get 453 acres through this deal with the co-operation of KINFRA, he said.
