A delegation led by Karnataka Deputy Speaker in Legislative Assembly, N H Shivashankara Reddy, has urged the Union Railway Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, to improve railway connectivity in Chikballapur district.

Shivashankara Reddy, who called on the Union Minister in New Delhi, appealed through a memorandum to provide stoppage of trains (Machalipattanam Express, Karnataka Express and Coimbatore Express) at Gauribidanur.

Upgradation of Dyavarapalli Railway Station to meet the increasing the demands of goods carriage, speed up the construction of underpass at Karekallahalli, to initiate railway connectivity between Chikballapur and Gauribidanur, and extension of railway line from Chikkaballapur to Puttaparthy via Bagepalli were other demands.

After a patient hearing, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda assured the delegation positively look into the issues.

Former Legislators N Sampangi, and Venkata Swamy, and former Vice-President of Taluk Panchayath, Gouribidanur, H N Prakash Reddy, accompanied the Karnataka Deputy Speaker.
