Kingfisher Airlines' services from Kolkata were affected on Friday afternoon, as crew members and ground-staff of the airline stopped work in protest against the non-receipt of salary and the reported decision of the authorities to wind up city operations, according to unofficial sources. Services resumed late in the evening.
“Kingfisher staff conducted a meeting around 2-30 pm and decided to stop work,” an airport source told Business Line . This led to cancellation of the evening flight to Bhubneswar.
The employees, however, resumed duty after 8 pm, leading to restoration of the 8-30 pm flight to Mumbai. Official confirmation was not available, either from the airport authorities or Kingflisher.
