To ensure a convenient metro ride during Durga Puja, Kolkata’s Metro Railway has decided to issue printed tickets instead of tokens between October 20 and 26.
This is also aimed at offering hassle-free access to the new users who are not familiar with the token-based ticketing.
According to a Metro spokesperson, the fares would remain the same and the paper tickets would be physically checked and punched at the exit gates. However, the smart card holders should follow the same norms during this period.
The spokesperson added that Metro authorities would beef up passenger security at its stations and other premises.
