Reachon Fastbuz, the point-to-point courier service jointly initiated by KSRTC and Trackon Couriers, will start its operations from Vijayadashami Day on October 23.
PV Bipin, head of Trackon Kerala, said the project would initially make use of the services of 3,700 KSRTC buses and all the bus stations across the State for collection and delivery of consignments.
The service, which will soon be extended to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, is expected to generate more job opportunities in the near future, as the project envisages 10,000 outlets, franchisees and collection centres shortly, he said.
Working on a revenue-sharing pattern, the project has been undertaken for five years under a slab system and turnover base. There will be an option in the agreement to extend the term to two more years, he said.
KSRTC’s foray into courier service is aimed at generating additional revenue as the company is passing through severe financial crisis.
