L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail project has received the Best Engineering Project of the year award at the Sixth Annual Global Infrastructure Leadership Forum Conference being held in New York.
Reacting to the development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said the global recognition for Hyderabad metro rail project will boost the competitive advantage of the city and the State and attract more investments.
The Global Infrastructure Forum on February 28 selected Hyderabad Metro Rail as the Engineering Project of the Year out of 100 top global infrastructure projects.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said the focus should be on timely completion of the project.
Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline ($7 billion; Rs 37,800 crore) of Azerbaijan, Hyderabad Metro Rail ($2.6 billion; Rs 14,132 crore) of India and Al Abdaliyah Integrated Solar Combined Cycle Plant of Kuwait, were short-listed for the final round and competed for the award.
The Global Infrastructure Leadership Forum, supported by several top global consultancy and infrastructure firms, had initially selected 100 projects from around the world as the Strategic Hundred based on business opportunity, productivity creation, competitiveness, job creation and carbon efficiency.
Managing Director of HMR, N.V.S. Reddy along with B. Sam Bob, State Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, received the award.
