Less allocations made for Cochin Port, Haldia Dock and Visakhapatnam Port will adversely impact the revenue of Dredging Corporation of India as most of the dredging works of major ports -- ports under the aegis of Centre -- are carried by DCI, said a department related parliament standing committee in its Shipping Ministry report.
The committee pointed out that that DCI has managed to lower its operational losses during last two years and finally managed to register profit.
While appreciating the increased efficiency of DCI, the committee also pointed out that the dredging firm had been in a financial crunch due to outstanding dues from Rs 694 crore.
The Shipping Ministry has said that should take initiatives to release the outstanding dues for payment to the DCI by organisations and ports under them.
It desired that DCI may consider increasing its dredging capacity.
