Dubai’s low-cost carrier ’flydubai’ has got DGCA approval to start once-a-week flight between Dubai and Ahmedabad starting June 11, a DGCA official said here today.
However, the airline has communicated that it is likely to start operations from July 11 from Sardar Vallabhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport here.
“The airline official has said that they are likely to commence their operations at SVPI Airport, Ahmedabad from July 11,” the Airport Director, Mr Anuj Aggarwal, told PTI.
The flights will depart every Saturday from Dubai and on Sunday from Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad will be Flydubai’s 38th destination and the third city in India after Lucknow and Hyderabad.
The airliner has proposed to use Boeing B-737-800 with a seating capacity of 189 passengers, all in economy class, and cargo load of 2,500 kg.
As per the approved schedule, the flight will depart from Dubai at 10.10 p.m. local time every Saturday and arrive at SVPI Airport at 2.50 a.m. at Ahmedabad. It will depart from Ahmedabad on every Sunday at 3.30 a.m., and arrive at Dubai at 5 a.m. on the same day, an AAI official said.
The new launch is targeted to provide low-cost connectivity to the Indians living in the UAE.
