The West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, on Monday said that she has kept her promise of setting up 16 Railway factories in the State that will ensure industrialisation here.
“The 16 Railway factories I had promised in West Bengal will ensure the industrialisation of the State,” she said during the foundation-laying stone ceremonies of a Diesel Loco Component factory and an Electric Loco Component factory at Dankuni in the Hooghly district of the State.
On the land that was acquired for setting up Tata Nano small car project at Singur, Ms Banerjee said that her government was already in possession of the land and it would be returned to the farmers as soon as the Court had given its verdict
“The matter of the court case would be resolved soon. There too I wanted to set up a Railway factory on 600 acres of land after returning 400 acres to unwilling farmers,” she said. Nearly, 1,000 acres of land had been acquired in Singur by the erstwhile Left Front government for the small car project.
