Mangalore airport will be connected with more domestic destinations such as Hyderabad, Chennai in the days to come, according to Mr M.R. Vasudeva, Director, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Mangalore.
Speaking on the sidelines of a function to launch the mechanised housekeeping service at the new integrated terminal building of Mangalore airport on Monday, he said that SpiceJet has shown interest in operating daily flights to Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai during the winter schedule.
The winter schedule will begin from October 25.
The airline has shown interest to operate two flights to Bangalore and one each to Hyderabad and Chennai, he said.
Added to this, Jet Airways will increase its service to Bangalore from the existing two flights a day to three flights.
Kingfisher Airlines has shown interest in operating a flight to Mumbai, he said.
With these services, the number of flight movements from Mangalore to other domestic destinations will reach 38 a day. Mangalore airport operates 50 flight movements a week to international destinations in West Asian countries.
