The bunker of the sixth unit of the NTPC thermal power plant at Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district today collapsed halting power generation from the unit
The bunker used for storage of coal for combustion in boiler furnace collapsed following technical snag, forcing suspension of power generation from the unit with 500-MW capacity, NTPC Kahalgaon unit General Manager, Mr Subhashi Ghosh, said.
A team of technical experts from New Delhi would come here tomorrow to restore the bunker, he said.
Meanwhile, power generation from NTPC thermal power plant has plummeted to 1,340 MW out of its total capacity of 2,340 MW with the seventh unit with a generation capacity of 500 MW already out of order for some time.
Efforts were on to resume generation from the seventh unit at the earliest, he said.
