A port official said that all operations of the Paradip port, on the east coast, have been suspended until an impending cyclone makes landfall on Friday.
Hundreds of people have been evacuated from the north-eastern coastline ahead of the severe storm. Many trains have been cancelled as well.
“Paradip port operations will be suspended from tonight, all vessels have been told to leave the port,” said SK Mishra, traffic manager at the port on Wednesday.
