Major ports in India – which are the ports under the Central government - handled 365 million tonne of cargo for the eight month period of current fiscal, up 1.43 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal.
The growth was driven primarily by a 36 per cent growth in thermal coal volumes, 7 per cent growth in coking coal and about 1.5 per cent growth in petroleum products, according to Indian Ports Association data.
The ports which registered growth during the period were Ennore, Paradip and New Mangalore.
