The railways has recorded a marginal dip in freight loading in February as compared to the same month last year.
The freight traffic carried by railways was 83.60 million tonnes (MT) during February, a decrease of 0.16 MT over the goods loading of 83.76 MT during the same period last year, registering a decline of 0.19 per cent, officials said.
However, there is an increase in the overall freight traffic during April-February period in the current fiscal.
Railways has carried 911.53 MT of revenue earning freight traffic during April 2012-February 2013. The freight carried shows an increase of 35.93 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 875.60 MT carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.10 per cent, the officials said.
