Port management company APM Terminals Pipavav and NYK Auto Logistics on Thursday announced the commencement of RORO operations at Pipavav port. The first RORO vessel, MV Grand Dahlia, berthed at the port was loaded with 1,300 cars.
Ford Motors has dispatched its first lot of Ford FIGO cars, manufactured at its Sanand plant in Gujarat, from the port.
Roll-on roll-off (RORO) cargo is driven on and off the vessel and consists of tractors, buses, cars, and other vehicles.
APM Terminals is a part of an international network operated by APM Terminals BV, an independent business unit of Maersk Group. NYK Auto is a part of the Tokyo-based NYK Group, which has major business interests in automotive ocean transportation and logistics.
