As the likelihood of the recently proposed rail passenger fare roll-back goes up, the five federations of Indian Railways are considering a move to appeal to the Prime Minister yet again.
The members of federation may request the PM to ensure that the revenues of the railways system, which is already under stress, should not be impacted due to the coalition politics.
Pointing out that the condition of railways is bad; the federations reiterated that there should not be any roll-back in non-AC passenger fares without matching support from the Government.
If the Government were to continue exploiting the railway system, the Union will have no option but to involve other stakeholders and start a sustained agitation, said Mr Shiva Gopal Mishra, Secretary General, All India Railwaymen Federation.
