Representatives from seven companies bidding for Operation, Management and Development of Chennai airport in public-private partnership mode visited the airport, according to an official press release.
The representatives were from Siemens Project Ventures GmbH, GVK Airport Holdings, GMR Airport Holdings, Egis Avia, Celebi Aviation, Tata Realty and Infrastructure Ltd, Pithavadian and Partners and Flemingo Intl Ltd, the release said.
Deepak Shastri, Airport Director, gave a presentation about the airport and its growth. A few queries raised by some of the prospective applicants were replied to by Airports Authority of India officials, the release said.
Airport employee union has been opposing the privatisation move on the grounds that there was no point in doing so when the AAI had spent over ₹2,000 crore to upgrade the airport.
